Faoi an Buíon

Seinneann an Buíon Phíobairí go mion minic i gcaitheamh na bliana ag imeachtaí go h’áitiúil agus níos faide ó bhaile. I dteannta leis na gigeanna éagsúla a mbíonn acu sna paróistí máguaird (cluichí peile, féilte, paráidí na Fhéile Pádraig i Sciobairín agus i mBeanntraí srl) bíonn go leor cúiseanna seinnte acu i bpobal Bhéal Átha’n Ghaorthaidh chomh maith. Seinneann siad mar chuid lárnach de pharáid na Féile Pádraig sa sráidbhaile gach bliain agus tagann siad amach chun seinm nuair a bhíonn aon chúis ceiliúrtha chomh maith sa sráid.

About the pipe band

Ballingeary Pipe Band was set up in 1928 and has been part of the cultural life of Béal Átha’n Ghaorthaidh since its inception. Based in the Muscraí Gaeltacht the band comprises of young and not-so-young members, male and female. Béal Átha’n Ghaorthaidh is a small rural Irish-speaking community and it is not unusual to have two or even three generations of the same family in the band. BPB has played for several  Presidents including Michael D. Higgins and Mary McAleese and also Vladimir Putin at the Spasskaya Tower Festival held annually in Moscow. In June of 2018 the band received an invitation from An t-Úachtaráin Michael D. Higgins to a garden party held in Áran an Úachtaráin. In 2016 the band travelled to Lorient and took part in the Festival Interceltique de Lorient. They also take part in St. Patrick’s Day parades, regattas, and various other festivals and events. The band has a varied repertoire which includes traditional tunes, a large selection of marches and also some church music.
